How has the city changed through the eyes of those who lived in it yesterday and those who experience it today? Twentieth-century home movies meet new generations in a process of re-reading and reinterpretation of archival images.

One hundred students from the first classes of the IC3 Mattarella lower secondary school took part in a creative workshop dedicated to the reuse of home movies, resulting in a series of original short films created from footage shot during the last century in Modena and its surroundings. Through four themes — food, the city, celebrations, and territory — the past was reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, giving rise to new narratives that bring memory, personal experience, and imagination into dialogue. The short films created by the students will be presented to the public during the event.

An initiative curated by Fondazione Home Movies – Archivio Nazionale del Film di famiglia, carried out during the 2025–2026 school year within the framework of the National Plan for Cinema and Images for Schools – Territorial Projects 2025, promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) and the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM).
